Upon moving into my house, I found myself buying countless items that I didn’t know I needed. I needed new trash cans, kitchen appliances, and lamps. I wasn’t budgeting for these things when I purchased the house, so I had to be really diligent about what I was purchasing while also putting other items lower on the list of things to be bought. For example, my parents were really adamant about me installing carbon monoxide detectors since the house had a gas furnace. As parents, they were really worried about me living in a house with a gas furnace because there were so many things that could go wrong. One of their biggest fears was a carbon monoxide leak. Since carbon monoxide was an odorless, silent, gas, it was lethal to everyone. Despite having the gas furnace serviced by an HVAC company when I first moved in, my parents were still uneasy about the gas furnace when there were no carbon monoxide detectors. Eventually, they grew tired of my hesitation to purchase the carbon monoxide detectors and they went out and purchased them themselves. My dad showed up at my door with two new carbon monoxide detectors and he insisted that he install them at that moment. I can’t complain too much because I didn’t want to buy them with my own money, nor did I want to install the carbon monoxide detectors for my gas furnace anyway. Now, my parents did it for me and we can all relax knowing that there won’t be any unknown gas leaks.
