The weather has been so horribly violent in the afternoons these days. Now, I suppose a genuine hurricane or a snowstorm would be considerably more violent, but we are still getting very severe thunderstorms rolling in nearly every afternoon. This is somewhat of a common occurrence in the middle of the summer down here in the South. The intense Southern heat is why I’m so grateful for the air conditioner at work, in my vehicle, and at home. Still, I find myself in a conundrum. It seems like almost every single day, the moment I clock out is the moment that mother nature clocks in and lets the heavens open up. If I’m lucky, I make it to my vehicle without getting drenched. However, on the many days that I do not make it to my vehicle in time, I have to choose between hot and soaked or uncomfortably cold and soaked on account of my air conditioner. However, even if I am dry all the way home, by the time I pull into the driveway, the rain has already been pouring down for quite some time. I either have to wait in my car for a long time and enjoy the dry air and air conditioner, or I have to run inside, getting soaked and finding myself back in the air conditioner, only now, I end up very wet and cold! Perhaps this would be easier to ignore, were it not for the fact that I ended up getting an actual cold yesterday from what I suspect is these extreme shifts in temperature and dryness and wetness!
