My cousin Nathan has always been sensitive.
- I remember my aunt always following up on him to carry his inhaler and allergy meds every time we would leave home.
He was born with respiratory issues and had challenges breathing properly. He could struggle each season when dust and allergens increase. To manage his condition, his parents bought air purifiers for the entire house. These made sure the air in their home was almost pure as all the debris and dust were filtered. My mom also had to install such a purifier when Nathan came over to live with us for 5 months when his parents traveled for a science project abroad. I had never understood why this purifier was important when we were young. I had an idea that it minimized allergic attacks and made Nathan safe but I wasn’t quite sure how this worked. It took me being a parent to an asthmatic kid to appreciate the need for air purifiers and HEPA filters for the HVAC system. WHen my daughter Nancy was born, we didn’t understand why she was always crying. After a series of examinations, the pediatrician told us that she was allergic to dust and had chest complications. He advised us to maintain high levels of hygiene and avoid keeping pets, especially dogs and cats as the fur could worsen Nancy’s condition. We recently gave our two cats and had the HVAC technician install two air purifiers in the house. The HVAC business recommended this since the house was two stories, and each floor needed its own purifier. Besides that, the air conditioner contractor advised that we use HEPA filters on the HVAC system since it has a better chance of filtering out all unwanted elements. We have since managed to control Nancy’s condition until now that she is approaching teenagehood.
