My Air Conditioner Saved Me from Heatstroke

My Air Conditioner Saved Me from Heatstroke

Luckily, my HVAC system is very good at dehumidifying the air, and the cooling system was working efficiently to turn the boiling air outside into the cool, dry, comforting blasts that were hitting my face

It was the early morning of July 3rd. The sun had just come up, and I had risen with it to get out into my yard and mow the grass, trim the hedges, and edge the walkways. In my area—which has a very hot summer climate—it was important to do outdoor chores like these as early as possible to avoid the scorching midday sun. I drank extra coffee, prepared my reusable water bottle, and donned my gloves for what I hoped would be a productive morning. The sun rose quickly that day, and I had just finished the mowing when I started to feel faint. I figured that I just needed some water, but after downing my entire bottle, I still felt light-headed and nauseous. I told myself that I would push through, and that if I was coming down with something, I would be even less motivated to work in the yard. But by the time I put the mower back in the shed, I found that I could barely stand. I retreated, with defeat, to the cool comforts of my living room, almost having to crawl through the front door from heat exhaustion. My HVAC system was a god-send that day; it was still mid-morning, but the heat just overtook me, and the only solution was to recline for an hour under an air conditioning vent. Luckily, my HVAC system is very good at dehumidifying the air, and the cooling system was working efficiently to turn the boiling air outside into the cool, dry, comforting blasts that were hitting my face. I was grateful to my HVAC technician, who had been out to the house just a few days before for a routine service to my cooling system. Because of her, my air conditioning was saving the day!
