Living in the northern United States, I have grown used to the brutal cold of winter.
I am always prepared with thick jackets, gloves, and warm socks for any adventure I have outside.
Unfortunately, these aren’t as comfortable to wear all day long inside of your house. This past winter was especially cold, and I was feeling all of the effects of the cold weather. The heating in my house did not seem to be as good as it could be, but I was not sure if this was because of the extra cold or my system. I kept raising the temperature on my thermostat, which I am sure raised my energy bills. My skin also felt dry and my lips were cracked due to the harsh weather we were having. I was talking to a friend of mine about how horrible the winter was when they suggested installing a whole-house humidifier. They told me about how they had installed one and that it made a big difference in the comfort of their home. I did some research, and I decided to try my friend’s advice. I was not disappointed. In just a short amount of time after the installation, I could feel a difference. My house felt warmer, even though I had not raised the thermostat. Instead, I was actually able to lower my thermostat a few degrees, and still feel comfortable as if the temperature was higher. My heating bill was actually reduced due to setting my thermostat at a lower degree. My skin improved as well as it was not as dry as it had been. I definitely believe a whole-house humidifier is a great addition for homes in the winter months.
