Recently I was given the opportunity to transition from a job with a commute, to a job from home.
I was very excited about this change, because I could spend close to 45 minutes just driving one way to work each day.
I was so excited when I prepared my new home office and set up my new work area. My first day of at-home work came, and I noticed that the temperature seemed to be very high. As my breaks came, I went to adjust the thermostat on our bottom floor, and would walk back up the stairs and notice a big difference in temperature. Having been gone most days to work, I never noticed the temperature difference between our upstairs and downstairs. My office was upstairs, so I knew I would need to find some way to bring the temperature down. My office also was facing an area that got a lot of sun during the day, so this did not help with the heat I felt. I initially bought some curtains to help keep the sun to a minimum, but this did not help how I wanted it to with temperature control. I finally reached out to our HVAC company to come and evaluate our system. The HVAC company recommended a zoning system. They instructed me that a zoning system would allow me to control the temperature in my office separately from other rooms in the house. Hearing this, I immediately knew this is what I needed to do. I proceeded with the installation, and I have been very pleased with the change in temperature. I now feel comfortable in my office, and I do not have to waste my break time adjusting the downstairs thermostat.
