Tiny Holes Causing Decreased Efficiency

Tiny Holes Causing Decreased Efficiency

For several months, the efficiency of my air conditioning system was decreasing, little by little, I watched my bi-weekly utility bill rise higher and higher and I didn’t know what was causing it.

I took care of my Heating & A/C system and I was diligent about replacing the air filter every three months.

I hadn’t experienced any complications with my air conditioning system in the past, so it felt unusual to me that the efficiency would decrease so much. I tried a lot of odd things to save cash, but nothing worked. No matter what I set the temperature to or how little I cooled my home, the efficiency was low. I finally decided to call an Heating & A/C professional because I thought something was wrong with my AC system. The Heating & A/C professional told me that there wasn’t anything wrong with the AC system, which was a sizable relief. However, there was a problem with my HVAC duct. There were several holes in the HVAC duct, which was causing my cool air to escape before it ever reached my residing spaces! This is why my attempts to decrease the utility bill were unsuccessful. The Heating & A/C professional told me that he was able to patch the holes himself, but I needed to have my HVAC duct cleaned. There was so much dust and debri building up in the HVAC duct that the friction was forming holes. Unfortunately, he was unable to scrub the HVAC duct that afternoon, but I could schedule an appointment for another afternoon. I’m glad I discovered the solution.
